These days we have got so used to the calorie count on the labels on our food, would it surprise you to learn that there is one thing that we consume that has no calorie count on it. Now I may be open to correction, but certainly where I live this is the case.
Now, I like a drink as much as the next person and I am not suggesting that you abstain from drinking alcohol altogether, an odd glass of wine can even be quite beneficial. But if you are trying to live a healthy life and you are doing everything else correctly – good water intake, good healthy diet and a moderate amount of exercise, but you still find that you aren’t feeling as good as all this great work would suggest that you should. Might be time to look at this in more detail.
This relates in particular to your water intake, you might find out that one wild night out in the pub could undo all your hard work over the rest of the week, so just ease up on those G an T’s !! Alcohol tends to cause dehydration and that in part is what causes the ill effects the morning after.
Now getting back to the point I started with. Did you know that one moderate glass of alcohol can have up to 500 calories per glass. So as you can see that it doesn’t take a lot to tip you over your average daily calorie count.
I think the time has now come to start including the calorie count on alcohol. With the recent concentration on the growing numbers of people in the general population who are obese. We really don’t want to end up with that type of hangover, as well as the alcoholic one.
So go ahead have a drink, but it’s just something to keep in mind the next time you want have a sip !!
