Considering that this blog is called Eat,Drink and Eat Berries it has taken me a few blogs to get to actually talk about them.
It generally goes that when dark or the colour black is mentioned in a sentence, that it has a negative meaning attached to it. Well in the case of fruit or berries the opposite holds true.it’s all good.
Berries like Blueberries or Blackberries are particularly good in releasing their goodness slowly into the body. Blueberries in particular are really nice added to a wholesome bowl of porridge or as a fruity addition to a snack of natural yogurt.
As well as Blueberries and Blackberries, don’t just restrict yourself to these two. There are many more like seasonal ones Strawberries or Gooseberries. I know that you can get these at other times of the year, but when it comes to flavour at least they taste much better when in season.
Some others to take note and contain many health giving properties of are Cranberries, Goji Berries and Raspberries to name a few. Although not berries, Figs and Dates are also worthy of mention thanks to their darker colouring.
Moving away from berries altogether, the same holds true for vegetables. The darker in green they become the better for you they are. Spinach and Kale being two example of this.
So whether on their own or added to desserts, breakfasts or to natural yogurt. Remember when it comes to berries, darker is better.
